Convenient Service Options
We offer a cost-effective approach to document service. When possible, we first notify residents to collect their documents at our office within 7 days. If unclaimed, a deputy will deliver the documents to the individual's home or workplace. This system helps save taxpayers' resources while maintaining efficient service.
Service Fees:

North Carolina Papers: $30.00 per defendant

Out-of-State Papers: $100.00 per defendant
Important Guidelines

Make checks payable to: The Sheriff of Orange County.

Include your affidavit of service for deputy use.

Out-of-state papers require a self-addressed envelope for return service.

In-state returns are processed through our statewide courier.

For indigent defendants, please attach court documentation confirming indigence status.
