While we're committed to public safety through traditional law enforcement, our passion is building lasting relationships with the community we serve. We foster this relationship by providing services to support, protect, engage with, and give back to the community. Some examples are below.

Community Outreach Programs

We actively engage with our community through:

• Community events and local celebrations

• Educational programs and facility tours

• Safe medication disposal in our main office lobby

• Safe Transaction Zone for online purchases

• Community Watch programs

• DWI prevention education

• Partnership with SafeKids NC

Protecting Your Home

We offer free security services to residents:

• Close Patrol: Extra surveillance of your neighborhood

• House Checks: Detailed property inspections while you're away

Specialized Community Programs

Citizens Academy:
Our eight-week program gives community members an inside look at law enforcement operations, from patrol and investigations to emergency services partnerships.

Safety Programs for Vulnerable Residents:

• Josh's Hope: Supporting those with cognitive and mental health needs

• LifeTrack: Rapid response system for at-risk individuals

• SALT (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together): Partnership with Project Engage

• Monthly Senior Meals Program: Serving 100 seniors in our rural communities

SOCO (Sheriff's Office Citizen Organization):
Our volunteer organization raises funds through community events to support:

• Life Track equipment

• Lindy Pendergrass Scholarship for high school seniors

• Various community initiatives

Shop with a Sheriff:
Our annual holiday program pairs deputies with local students for a special day of gift shopping and community bonding.
